LinuxDig.Com : Bad Weather, Earthquakes and Volcanoes. All Related?
Author: HumanX | Friday December 31, 2004
Living in South Florida for nearly 30 years I had the opportunity (not a good one at that) to challenge three hurricanes, something that has not happened for nearly 50 years. Across the globe continents are facing similar challenges. Is there something in common?
LinuxDig.Com is saddend by the tragedy in Asia and East Africa. Our hearts and prayers are with you.
It is no big secret that volcanoes spew huge amounts of ash which can span portions of the planet and create new land mass where none existed before. Earthquakes can effect the structure of the planet and tides. And then there is the weather.
Is the earth refitting herself and in the process effecting the weather around the world? Mount Saint Helens in Washington, USA erupted for the first time in over 15 years. This year we saw 2 of the strongest earthquakes in over 5 years. I am no geologist or meteorologist, but I have got to think three hurricanes hitting Florida were a direct result of the massive geological events occurring.
BTW, it might be time to by new GPS maps. The Indonesian quake may have shifted a tectonic plate close by, by 98 feet and in process shifting the axes of the globe by one inch. Imagine the earths axes was shifted by one inch, this latest quake was powerful enough to shift the earth.
I am not saying the end of the world is coming, but lets hope the earth settles after this. As it seems to me, we may still be in for a wild ride. Every action has a reaction. After this latest earthquake, will the earth have to shift yet again or was this last quake the result of a previous and an effort to release stress?
In table 1.1, you will see that though the total count of earthquakes is less
then other years, 2 of the most powerful occurred this year. The number of deaths were triple the amount since 2000 and that does NOT take into account the 100,000+ that were lost in the Indonesian quake due to Tsunamis.
