Who is kissing who? Hard to tell... But deep in the shadows a romance is playing itself out, and with all romance stories, someone always gets hurt.
Microsoft just cannot seem to keep themselves out of trouble. Besides being known as the monopolizing giant, they are slowly being seen as the hunter wielding the SCO blade.
BusinessWeek has reported that Microsoft played matchmaker for SCO and BayStar Capital for a 50 million dollar investment. When the war is over, Linux will remain, Microsoft will play PR and SCO will be broke.
The is a war through PROXY, similar to the United States and Russia. Microsoft’s army is SCO and IBM's army is the Linux Community. Both leaders are powerful indeed and only one will surface as champion leaving the world to cleanup the after math.
Each side invests into the battle and the battle continues to heat up. The victor will be IBM and Linux, I am willing to bet on this. I believe if Microsoft continues to support SCO, the United States Government may begin looking back into Microsoft for anti-competitive behavior which leads to Microsoft withdrawing support for SCO. Once SCO is alone in this chess game, the war is over.
