xsane1. XSane is an X based interface for the SANE (Scanner Access Now Easy)library, which provides access to scanners, digital cameras, and other capture devices. XSane is written in GTK+ and provides control for performing the scan and then manipulating the captured image. You may install xsane-gimp if you want the GIMP plug-in. From Mandrake 9.0 RPM 2. a gtk based X11 frontend for SANE (Scanner Access Now Easy) SANE stands for "Scanner Access Now Easy" and is an application programming interface (API) that provides standardized access to any raster image scanner hardware (flatbed scanner, hand-held scanner, video- and still-cameras, frame-grabbers, etc.). The SANE standard is free and its discussion and development is open to everybody. The current source code is written for UNIX (including Linux) and is available under the GNU public license (commercial application and backends are welcome, too, however). xsane can be run as a stand-alone program or through the GIMP image manipulation program. In stand-alone mode, xsane can save an image to a file in a variety of image formats, or serve as a frontend to a fax program, or send an image to a printer. From Debian 3.0r0 APT |
