rdate1. Set the system's date from a remote host. Rdate displays and sets the local date and time from the host name or address given as the argument. It uses the RFC868 protocol which is usually implemented as a built-in service of inetd(1). From Debian 3.0r0 APT 2. The rdate utility retrieves the date and time from another machine on your network, using the protocol described in RFC 868.
