change-control1. An important security practice where changes to the systems are reviewed ahead of time to validate they are appropriate, then recorded in order to "roll back" in case they introduce a fault. A common use for change-control is validating that a firewall's ruleset doesn't degrade. Change-control is also used for maintaining system patches. From Hacking-Lexicon |
