1. A high-level programming language that extends Pascal so that the language can execute program modules independently. Developed in 1980 by computer wizard and Pascal creator Niklaus Wirth, Modula-2 supports the separate compilation of program modules and overcomes many other shortcomings of Pascal. A programer working as part of a team can write and compile the module he or she has been assigned, and then test the module extensively before integrating it with other modules.
