Crossover Cable
1. A crossover cable is used to network two computers without using a hub. Crossover cables may also be required for connecting a cable or DSL modem to a wireless gateway or Access Point. Instead of traversing the cable in parallel paths between the plugs, the signals \"crossover.\" For example, in an eight-wire cable, the signal entering on pin one at one end of the cable would exit on pin eight at the other end.
