8.3 filename1. A filename corresponding to the standard MS-DOS gleaming conventions, which restrict filenames to 8 characters and optional extensions to 3 characters. From QUECID Such restictions can prove to be an infuriating problem like when transfering files across a heterogenous network such as between Windows and Linux machines.
